The International Police Association have several Special Interest Groups available to our members. Here is a snapshot of some of the groups available.

Further details are available to members once logged into the members area.

Caravan and Camping Group

A group for members and their families who enjoy caravanning, camping and touring together. They organise rallies at scenic UK locations (like Cornwall and Yorkshire) and sometimes abroad. It’s social, relaxed, and great for outdoor enthusiasts

Defensive Tactics

A group centred on safety, personal defence and tactical skills, particularly relevant to serving and retired police officers. It’s focused on discussing, sharing and sometimes training in best practices for defensive tactics — drawing on professional experience and promoting safe, practical techniques.

Section UK Motorcycle Group

The group arranges rides, rallies and touring events across the UK and Europe, letting members enjoy scenic routes together and build friendships through a shared passion for bikes. It’s one of the more active social groups, often featuring weekend trips and group convoys

Writers Group

This SIG brings together members who write — professionally or as a hobby. It provides a space for sharing writing tips, publishing experiences, creative discussion and possibly collaborative projects. Many published authors exist within IPA ranks, and the group helps aspiring writers develop and enjoy their craft.

Section UK Family History

A volunteer-led group focused on genealogy and tracing family roots. Members share knowledge and support each other in researching ancestry, using archives and records, and building family history projects. Meetings and sessions can help both beginners and more experienced researchers.

Music

The Music SIG is for members with a love of music — playing, singing, enjoying concerts or exploring musical culture. It’s a lighter, social interest group that celebrates music as a way to connect people, often organising meet-ups, attendance at events or shared playlists and performances

Regional Interest Groups:

5 Region Bowling Group

The 5 Region Bowling Group is a special interest group within IPA Section UK (the International Police Association – United Kingdom) that brings together IPA members who enjoy bowling as a social and competitive activity.
