Committees

This part of the site gives a brief description Section UK's structure.  Members of Section UK can find more details of National, Regional and Branch committee members in the Directory of Office Holders (found in the members' only part of the site).

The IPA network spans more than 60 countries with over 375,000 members.  The British Section has 11 Regions and over 70 Branches spread across the police forces of England and Wales, the Scottish Police, the Police Service of Northern Ireland, Ministry of Defence Police, British Transport Police, Civil & Nuclear Constabulary, Belfast Harbour Police and Belfast International Airport Constabulary, plus the Police at the Ports of Bristol, Dover, Felixstowe and Tilbury.

The control of the British Section is vested in the National Council which has representation from the 11 Regions covering the United Kingdom. The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the British Section is elected by the National Council by ballot to act on behalf of the Section. Upon election, members of the NEC serve on a voluntary basis for a term of three years after which time they may offer themselves for re-election.
