Advice to Foreign Nationals Seeking Professional Exchanges or Internships with UK Police Forces

Policing arrangements in the United Kingdom are such that the 43 Police Forces of England & Wales, the eight Police Forces in Scotland and the Police Service of Northern Ireland are under the independent control of their respective Chief Constables. There is no mechanism in place within UK policing for the IPA to either negotiate on or to influence matters of professional exchanges for foreign nationals wishing to come to the UK.

It is the position of Section UK that there is a duty upon the applicant to undertake research on their own behalf to identify potential suitable exchanges or internships and direct any specific applications to the appropriate UK Agency or Police Force.

Section UK trusts you will understand that given the issues around the necessity for security vetting of applicants and on occasion the need for special visa requirements, the Section will not be able to assist with any such enquiries in the future.
