On Tuesday 27 July 2010 the President led mourners from the world of IPA at the funeral service of our dear friend Gary Waine, who passed away on the 14 July 2010, at St. Michael’s Church, Heighington, County Durham. 3 Region was represented by its Secretary, Bill Gee, and Gary’s branch (Durham & Cleveland) by its Chair, Karel Simpson. The President presented his condolences on behalf of Section UK to Gary’s widow Marjorie and her family and afterwards signed the Book of Condolences.
Gary’s legacy will live on in 3 Region through the annual Study Tour which he championed and arranged for so many years. He never stopped working for IPA and the upcoming Friendship Week in Durham, which was Gary’s main but not only contribution to our Diamond Jubilee celebrations will be a timely reminder of the immense inspiration Gary Waine was and will continue to be to the world of IPA. He will be sorely missed.
