Northumbria Branch Create a Photographic Yearbook

IPA Northumbria Branch have created a photographic yearbook for 2008.

Keith Laidler explains how he went about creating this:
We all take photographs at Branch events, however they usually end up as a series of prints where the time and location is quickly forgotten.

At the end of 2008 I decided to make a yearbook of some of the Northumbria Branch events, using free software downloaded from www.aldiphotos.co.uk.  The software is self explanatory to use and enables photographs to be dragged and dropped into the pages, resized, enhanced and text boxes added to insert captions.  The final result is up to the creativity of the user and the hard back photo book provides a professional presentation.  As well as creating the IPA Branch Yearbook the product is also great for those holiday photographs, wedding albums or any other photographic event.

Once the photo book has been edited on-screen, the ordering process is simple, guided steps over the internet, or by burning a CD disc to post off.  The turn around from the point of order to delivery is usually 2 to 3 days.  Various page sizes of book are available, e.g. 26, 34, 50, 58, 66 right up to 98 pages, with current prices ranging from £16.99 for the 26 page book, £24.99 for 58 pages and £34.99 for 98 pages. Post and packing is £1.33 in all cases, however if a number of copies are ordered, p&p is still £1.33.

I have used the Aldi Photo Service for about two years and thoroughly recommend it for ease of use and quality of the finished product. (and no – I am not employed by Aldi !).

If you want to give it a try, go to www.aldiphotos.co.uk – click on ‘Photo Books’ then on the ‘Download software & order’ box.  You can save the download and installation is painless.

So - get creating - I’ve already started on our 2009 Yearbook.

President Steve Connor, commented:

“This is a great initiative by Keith and something I would be pleased to see replicated in other Branches.  Additionally, I envisage creating a visual souvenir of Section UK throughout its Diamond Jubilee Year and would be delighted if everyone contributed material to see such a project achieved a lasting memorial of one full year in the life of the IPA”.
