The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the British Section is elected by the National Council by ballot to act on behalf of the Section. Upon election, members of the NEC serve on a voluntary basis for a three year term. Their main roles are:
- set standards and establish policies for the Association
- liaise with the Executive Officer and other members of the NEC
- deal with matters as directed by the National Council and/or the National Executive Committee
- promote the Association
- co-ordinate decision making
- strategically plan
- attend all meetings of the National Council and the NEC and to take part in the decision making process of those bodies
- in rotation with other NEC members, act as a Trustee of Arthur Troop House
- prepare and submit annual reports to the National Council Meeting
- give advice to members on issues relating to the Association’s Constitution, rules and directives
- represent the Section at any International meeting or event, as required.
In addition, each member of the National Executive Committee has areas of responsibility relating to their individual office.
